A mixture of photos here from 2024 taken in the small village of Oberdrum, Osttirol, Austria, the nearby town of Lienz https://www.tyrol.tl/en/tyrol/lienz-dolomites-east-tyrol/lienz/tand the beautiful city of Salzburg https://www.britannica.com/place/Salzburg-Austria

Oberdrum, nr Lienz, Austria. I often walked passed this farm with various bits of machinery outside. The car caught my attention with the shadows and high contrast of the scene. There is a sense of both stillness and work – there’s a toolbox under the car suggesting it’s an ongoing porject. But the frost is undisturbed and there’s an air of stillness.

A barn in the village of Oberdrum, Osttirol, Austria. I left this photo in colour to leave the rich textures in the barn – the hay bales, the cart, and vaious itmes on the lower left. The colours contrast with the cat strolling across the scene and the hue of the wooden doors. It’s a simple but also rich scene.

Farrkirche Oberlienz. farrkirche_oberlienz_osttirol_austria A church was mentioned on this site in 1308 but the present gothic building dates from 1762 with additional features added during the 19th century. It is surrounded by a walled cemetery (see below) and sits under a steep gable roof and faces south.

Ice and water – detail from the River Isel near Oberlienz

Bridge in Lienz, Osttirol over the Isel. I was looking to frame the river and mountains through the impfressive bridge girders. Just before the bridge there’s the Mocafe Kaffeehaus https://www.mocafe.at/ with great cakes and coffee (obviously)

Bridge over the Isel, Lienz, Austria. I was again looking at the structre and shadows.

Leinz, bridge with shadows and more perspective. It was a very cold bright day and the clean lines seem to refelct this. Kaffeehaus Mocafe is visible to the right.

Lienz, Austria. Isel and snow. This isn’t monochrome but rather desaturated to keep a hint of colour in the clouds and ice. that tries to reflect the actual temperature in the colour temperature. The river creates a leading line pointing toward the distant mountains.

Oberdrum, Lienz, Osttirol. Shadows. I like the way the shadow of the fence creates a leading line towards the trees, that are highlighted by the sunlight against the mountains.
